Pick up From Kigali & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Your adventure begins early in the morning with a pickup from your hotel in Kigali. You’ll travel in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle for about 2–3 hours to Kinigi, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, you may enjoy a packed breakfast from your hotel while taking in Rwanda’s rolling green landscapes.

Morning: Briefing & Gorilla Group Assignment

On arrival at Kinigi, you will attend a detailed briefing by park rangers covering gorilla trekking rules, safety guidelines, and conservation efforts. You will then be assigned to a habituated gorilla family and placed into a small group of up to 8 trekkers.

Gorilla Trekking Experience

You then begin your trek into the dense rainforest of Volcanoes National Park with expert guides and trackers. The trek duration varies from 1 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movements. The hike takes you through bamboo forests, volcanic slopes, and lush jungle terrain.

Once the gorillas are found, you will spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat—watching them feed, play, rest, and interact up close.

Afternoon: Return to Kigali

After the trek, you return to Kinigi and meet your driver for the journey back to Kigali. Arrival is usually in the afternoon or early evening, depending on trekking duration.
