Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was established in 1991 and spans 331 square kilometers. This vast park is home to around 120 mammal species, 160 tree species, 100 types of ferns, colorful butterflies, and 360 bird species, including the African green broadbill, Shelley’s crimson-wings, Chapin’s flycatchers, and swamp warblers. It is globally recognized as one of the best gorilla trekking destinations, hosting all 20 habituated gorilla groups. Day 1: From Kigali to Uganda - Bwindi National Park

Your 2 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari - Starting From Kigali, will have an optional kigali city tour, and this will include visiting the museum, the Kigali genocide site, Kimironko market- one of the biggest markets in Kigali.

After the city tour in the modern Kigali capital, settle for leisurely lunch and then head to Katuna/Chanika border to cross to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park 4-5 hours’ drive journey. En-route, enjoy the breathtaking view of both Rwanda exceptional landscape and that of Uganda characterized by rolling hills.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Start your day with a hearty breakfast to gear up for the exciting gorilla trekking adventure ahead. After eating, get ready to leave the lodge in comfortable trekking gear, including sturdy boots for navigating the rugged trails of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Expect a thrilling 2 to 6 hours of searching for the magnificent mountain gorillas, so be sure to pack energy snacks and plenty of water.

The trek kicks off at 8:00 am after a briefing from the park rangers, where you'll learn about the forest, get tips for the trek, and be assigned to a gorilla family. Led by an experienced guide, you’ll venture into the misty, dense Bwindi Forest, known for its rich biodiversity, towering trees, and thick vegetation that makes it feel like a whole other world.

When you finally spot the gorilla family, led by the powerful silverback, you’ll have one hour to observe these amazing creatures up close. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to watch them play, interact, and go about their day—so keep your camera ready for those unforgettable shots.
