8 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari with Gorillas & Murchison Falls

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari guide and receive a briefing about your 8 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari with Gorillas & Murchison Falls adventure. You will then begin a scenic cross-border drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.

The journey passes through the famous “Land of a Thousand Hills,” with rolling terraced landscapes, rural villages, and beautiful countryside views. After crossing into Uganda, continue to the southern sector of Bwindi, home to mountain gorillas and one of the most biodiverse rainforests in Africa.

Arrive at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge for dinner and relaxation as you prepare for your gorilla trekking experience.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers before starting your gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Trekking through dense rainforest, you will search for one of the habituated gorilla families. Once located, you will spend a magical hour observing their behavior in their natural habitat—feeding, playing, grooming, and interacting.

After the trek, continue your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, driving through the scenic Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions and wildlife sightings along the way.

Arrive at Engiri Game Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Game Drive, Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise, Lake Katwe & Lake Munyanyange

Start the day with a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Expect sightings of elephants, buffaloes, lions, Uganda kobs, warthogs, hyenas, and possibly leopards.

After breakfast, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George, known for its dense concentration of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and abundant birdlife.

In the afternoon, visit Lake Katwe to learn about traditional salt mining and continue to Lake Munyanyange, a seasonal birding hotspot famous for flamingos and other water species.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park & Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary Walk

After breakfast, continue your 8 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari with Gorillas & Murchison Falls journey northward through crater lakes and tea plantations to Kibale Forest National Park, the primate capital of East Africa.

After lunch, enjoy a guided walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-managed conservation area rich in birdlife and primates including colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and baboons.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking, Banana Gin & Coffee Experience

Begin the day with a chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale Forest National Park. Kibale is home to one of the highest densities of primates in Africa, including chimpanzees and several monkey species.

Spend one hour observing chimpanzees in the wild as they move through the forest canopy and interact socially.

Later, enjoy a cultural experience featuring traditional banana gin distillation and Uganda’s famous coffee production process, from farm to cup.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, continue your 8 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari with Gorillas & Murchison Falls by driving north to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest protected area.

The journey offers scenic views of rural landscapes, the Albertine Rift Valley, and small trading towns along the way. Arrive in the afternoon and check in at your lodge.

Relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the Nile ecosystem.

Day 7: Murchison Falls National Park – Game Drive, Nile Boat Cruise & Top of the Falls Hike

Early morning game drive in the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park offers chances to see giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hartebeests, Uganda kobs, and more.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Nile River to the base of Murchison Falls, where hippos, crocodiles, and elephants are commonly seen along the riverbanks.

Later, hike to the Top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile forces itself through a narrow gorge before plunging into a powerful waterfall.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Entebbe via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, begin your return journey to Entebbe, completing your 8 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari with Gorillas & Murchison Falls adventure.

Stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino tracking experience on foot, offering a rare opportunity to observe white rhinos in their natural habitat while learning about conservation efforts in Uganda.

Continue the drive to Entebbe with a lunch stop en route. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
