5 Days Rwanda Safari

The Safari will not only enable you to see the above but you will go on and visit Kigali city which is also the capital city of Rwanda and at the same time the cleanest city in East Africa and Africa in particular. While here, you will visit different places such as the Kigali genocide memorial centre where you will see the remains of the victims, visit the Inema art centre and after drive to the airport and fly back to your home country.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at the airport and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Immediately after arriving at the airport, our company representative together with your driver guide will meet you at the and give you a short briefing about the tour. This briefing will give you the dos and don'ts while on the tour. After the briefing, you will drive to Volcanoes National Park at your booked lodge where you will spend your night and have dinner

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

On the second day of your 5 days Rwanda safari, you will wake up early in the morning to catch up with time and be served your delicious breakfast after which you will drive to the park headquarters where you will be issued a permit to allow you go for trekking in the park. After you will drive to the trekking point where you will meet a park ranger guide who will also give you a briefing about trekking these animals.

Having done your briefing, you will start looking for these endangered animals in the park. The activity in most cases takes 2-8 hours but it depends on their movements. Immediately after reaching them, you will be given an hour to spend with them as you are taking photos and short videos as well as learning more behaviours such as grooming, seeing them playing with their young ones and many more.

Since these animals tend to move high in the mountains, visitors are always advised to come with their hiking equipment such as gumboots and hiking shoes and also pack enough drinking water and snacks to eat and drink when you get hungry and thirsty. After trekking, you will be given a gorilla trekking certificate and drive back to your lodge, relax and be served with your dinner and rest a night.

Day 3: Transfer to Akagera National Park

Be served with your morning breakfast at your lodge and then drive heading to Akagera National Park which is also the only Savannah National Park in Rwanda. The park is located in the Eastern side of the country and is well known for having several wildlife including the big five animals. After you will drive to the lodge of your choice and be served your meals as you are enjoying life in this land of a thousand hills.

Day 4: Morning game drive and evening boat cruise

Enjoy your delicious morning breakfast at your lodge and then drive heading to the Akagera National Park for a morning game drive where you explore much of the Park's wildlife like the African elephants, olive baboons, buffalos, lions, zebras, rhinos, topis and many more that will make your drive enjoyable.

The park is not only for animals but also known for homing different bird species which among others are the Senegal lapwings, Kingfishers, grey crowned crane and others. You will drive to your lodge for lunch.

In the evening drive back to the park and for an evening boat cruise which is mostly done on lake Ihema. This boat cruise will reward you with a view of different water birds like giant Kingfishers, pelicans and others. You will also have a look at aquatic animals such as crocodiles, and d hippos. Drive back to your lodge for dinner and night's stays

Day 5: Visit the city and fly back home

Begin the last day of your 5 days Rwanda safari with a morning breakfast and after a drive heading to Kigali city where you visit many places such as the Kigali genocide memorial center where over 800,000 victims of the 1994 tribal war between the Hutu extremists and the Tutsi were buried. It is believed that the war lasted for 100 days and it broke up immediately after the assassination of the Rwandan dictator, Juvenal Habyarimana.

While here, you will be in a position of seeing some of the remains of the victims like the skulls, bones, and clothes and watch some of the short videos of what happened during and after the genocide. After you will proceed with the journey and go to the Inema art Centre where you will be told the history of the Rwandan people through art. You will have an option of buying some of the locally made art materials which will make you not forget your safari. After your city tour, drive heading to Kigali airport and fly back to your home country.
