3 days Gorilla Trek in Volcanoes National Park

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Be picked up by your driver guide who will give you a short briefing about your safari. It will mainly consist of the rules and regulations to follow on your safari. After the briefing you will drive heading to volcanoes national Park a journey taking 2-3 hours from Kigali airport and arrive at your lodge late in the evening for your evening meals and rest

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Lake Kivu

To catch up with time, wake up early in the morning and have your well-served morning breakfast at your lodge and after drive to Volcanoes National Park. You will drive to the park headquarters and be given a permit and after drive to the starting point where you will meet a ranger guide who will brief you shortly about the rules and regulations to follow on the trek of these primates. When trekking, only 8 people are allowed to trek a single gorilla family in a day

It is important to note that these animals tend to move high in the mountains and long distances in search of food and the experience normally take 4-8 hours depending on their movements. Because of this reason, visitors are always advised to come in hiking shoes. As soon as you reach them, you are given an hour in their presence taking photos and videos then after, travel back to the park headquarters for a certificate and drive back to your lodge for your lunch.

In the evening you will drive to Lake Kivu where you will drive for 1-2 hours from Kinigi in volcanoes national Park to Gisenyi in Lake Kivu. Have a view of the lake as you see fishermen fishing, different types of caught from the lake and other related information about the lake all explained by a local guide. Drive back to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 3. Kigali city tour and flying back home

On this last day of your safari, you will have your well-served dish at your lodge and after drive to Kigali for a city. Kigali is one of the cities in East Africa and Africa at large which are considered the cleanest cities. On this tour, you will visit the Kimironko market which is the oldest market one of the largest markets in Kigali and Rwanda as a whole. While here, you will buy some souvenirs, fruits and other things which will keep you remembering your safari then after you will drive to the airport and fly back home.
