10 days Uganda Gorilla trekking and Zanzibar

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kampala and check in at the hotel

As you arrive in Kampala at the airport, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will take you through a quick briefing about your ten days Uganda gorilla and Zanzibar safari and then you will drive to the hotel of your booking in Kampala.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up in the morning, have your breakfast and then head for your 8-9 hours’ drive to the southwestern part of Uganda where Bwindi impenetrable national Park is situated. This park is one of the best destinations to go for gorilla trekking as it hosts half of the remaining mountain gorillas in the whole world.

You will have a stopover at the equator in Kayabwe for photographic moments while in two hemispheres of the world that is; the northern and southern hemispheres. You will have your lunch in Mbarara city and then proceed with your journey to the booked lodge as you look at the Kigezi Highlands.

Day 3: Trekking gorillas and cultural encounter

Be served a heavy breakfast and then drive to the park headquarters where you will meet the Park ranger guide who will take you through a short briefing about mountain gorilla trekking and then lead you to the rainforest to look for these great apes.

When they are found, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence as you watch them communicate, play and jump from one tree branch to another. You will also be looking at other animals like elephants, primates like a blue monkey, L’Hoest’s monkeys many more and birds like the western green tinker bird, chestnut throated Apalis and many more.

You will move back to the lodge for lunch and after head for a cultural encounter with the Batwa in their community. While there, you will be entertained with their traditional dances, they will demonstrate to you how they used to make fire out of two dry sticks being rubbed together, the way of making their houses, meals and then the experience will end with storytelling. Trek back to the lodge for your dinner.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha sector

In the morning after your breakfast, you will drive to the western part of Uganda to Queen Elizabeth National Park one of the most popular destinations in the whole of Uganda and famously known for homing the rare tree climbing lions, found in Ishasha sector and as you head to this park from Bwindi Forest.

You will have a chance to look at the rare tree climbing lions that spend most of the time in the tree branches resting, you will also look at animals like topis, buffaloes and many more. Proceed with your journey and check in at any lodge of your booking.

Day 5: Morning game drive and transfer to Kampala fly to Zanzibar

Wake up in the morning, have your breakfast and head for a morning game drive in the open grasslands of the Kasenyi plains where you will have a greater view of the forest, animals like buffaloes, elephants, warthogs and many more. You will also have a look at some cats like leopards, birds like sacred ibis, African skimmers and several more.

The game drive will take 2 hours and after you will move back to the lodge to pick up your things and transfer back to Kampala with a stopover at any of the restaurants in Fort portal for your picnic lunch and then you will be dropped at the airport for a flight to Zanzibar in Tanzania, one of a kind place you should not miss while in Africa. Day 6: Spice tour

In the morning after your breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel and then you will head for a full day spice tour in Zanzibar you will be able to know where it got its name, learn more about the history and you will visit either Kizimbani or Kidichi villages to look at the spice plantations. While here you will be able to touch, see, smell and taste where necessary. The day will end and memories will remain forever, move back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 7-9: Beach exploration

You will spend these three days exploring the beauty of this beach as you take part in a variety of beach activities like sunbathing in the morning and evening, swimming, taking photos, taking part in beach soccer, snorkeling and many more activities.

Spend a day wandering in the alleys ways of Stone town which are very narrow as you look at the old buildings of the Arabs, the mosques that the Arabs set up in the 19th century and the ancient slave market.

Day 10: Transfer to Zanzibar Airport and fly back home

This tenth day will be your last day and you will have your breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive back to Zanzibar Airport with a stopover at any craft shops for some souvenirs and fly back to your home country after reaching the airport.
