4-Day Gorillas and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari in Uganda

This compact adventure takes you deep into Uganda’s wild beauty. Start in Kibale Forest, where you'll track playful chimpanzees and explore crater lakes. Then head to Bwindi for the unforgettable experience of gorilla trekking. End your journey at the peaceful Lake Bunyonyi before returning to Entebbe. Perfect for nature lovers craving close encounters with primates and stunning landscapes—all in just four days.

Day 1: Journey to Kibale Forest National Park

We begin our adventure in Kampala, traveling westward through lush wetlands and tropical scenery typical of the Nile Delta. Along the way, we stop for lunch before arriving at the edge of the stunning Rwenzori Mountains, often called the 'Mountains of the Moon'. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided nature walk around the crater lakes region, immersing yourself in the culture and natural beauty surrounding Kibale Forest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Travel to Bwindi

After an early breakfast, set out for an exhilarating chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale National Park—home to around 500 chimps. A pre-trek briefing prepares you for your journey through the forest, where your guide shares insights into the diverse primates and ecosystems found here.
Kibale is Africa's prime destination for chimpanzee encounters. These intelligent primates are often seen feeding in the fig trees and have been familiar with humans since their habituation began in 1992. Spanning 795 square kilometers, Kibale is a biodiversity hotspot with one of the continent’s densest concentrations of primates. Later, we journey south via Queen Elizabeth National Park and continue to Bwindi, arriving for a relaxing evening.

Day 3: Gorilla Tracking & Drive to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, head to the ranger station for a pre-trek briefing before embarking on your unforgettable gorilla trekking expedition. Depending on the group assigned, the trek may last 2–6 hours through dense forest and bamboo terrain. Guided by a Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger, you'll track and observe a family of mountain gorillas—an experience many describe as life-changing. Packed lunch is provided due to the trek’s unpredictable duration.
Once the trek is complete, travel through Uganda’s terraced highlands to Lake Bunyonyi, famed for its beauty and tranquility. Spend the evening relaxing or opt for activities like canoeing, island hikes, or cultural walks to meet local communities and discover unique bird species.

Day 4: Canoeing on Lake Bunyonyi & Return to Entebbe

After breakfast, enjoy a peaceful guided canoe ride on the scenic Lake Bunyonyi, dotted with lush green islands. Afterwards, begin your return transfer. Lunch is served en route, with an evening drop-off in Entebbe—either at the airport or your preferred accommodation—as you say goodbye to Uganda’s incredible wildlife and landscapes.
