Tour Overview
The 5 days Uganda Gorilla trekking and wildlife safari will take you to Bwindi impenetrable national park where you will be able to trek for mountain gorillas in their natural habitats, the amazing cultural experience of the Batwa and then you will transfer to Lake Mburo for a game drive in the savannah grasslands and a boat cruise on the lake.
You will be welcomed by our driver guide who will immediately take you through a short briefing about your five days Bwindi and wildlife safari and then he will drive you to the booked hotel where you will relax after a long flight, you will also have dinner and overnight stay.
You will be served your breakfast in the morning and then you will check out from the hotel, and drive to the southwestern corner of Uganda in the Kisoro district where Bwindi is located. This park is well known for homing half of the remaining population of the mountain gorillas and one of Africa’s oldest forests.
On your 7-8hours drive, you will be looking at the beauty of Uganda outside the capital Kampala like the highlands, plantations and many more. you will have a stopover on your way and have lunch at any restaurant then continue with your drive to the booked lodge for your dinner and overnight stay.
Having had your breakfast, you will have your drive to the park headquarters where you will meet the park ranger guide who will brief you shortly about the rules and regulations followed when trekking and then lead you to the park to trek for these endangered mountain gorillas.
Trekking normally takes several hours as most of the time is spent searching for these gorillas because they keep moving from one place to another in search of food, but meanwhile, you will be looking at other animals like elephants, small antelopes and many more. But when one family of the mountain gorillas is found, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence as you watch them play, groom each other, and feed among other behaviors. Move back to the lodge for lunch and after lunch, you will head for the Batwa cultural encounter.
A visit to the Batwa community is yet another interesting experience you should not miss while in Uganda. The Batwa were the first people to live in a park with the endangered mountain gorillas before it became a conservation area and are one of the shortest people in the whole world. While in their community you will be able to look at how they used to do their things like lighting fire, their dances and many more. Trek back to the lodge.
Check out from your lodge after having your breakfast and transfer to lake Mburo national park the whispers of the wild are well known for homing zebras thus also called a home of zebras. You will move to the booked lodge and have your lunch as you warm yourself for an evening boat cruise on Lake Mburo.
On your 2 hours evening boat cruise on Lake Mburo, you will be able to look at aquatic animals like crocodiles, hippos and many more, water birds like pelicans, kingfishers, herons, and shoebills to mention but a few. Retreat to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Your morning game drive will begin with breakfast and you will head for your drive around the park where you will be able to look at animals like warthogs, buffaloes, several antelope families like impalas, water bucks, bush bucks and many more. The park also homes over 320 bird species so birders will not be disappointed when they include lake Mburo on your birding destination. Return to the lodge and have your lunch.
After lunch, you will check out from your lodge and drive back to Kampala with a stopover at the equator in Kayabwe for photographic moments and some experiments then proceed with your journey to the airport for your flight.
