On March 4, 2020, One&Only Gorilla’s Nest was officially opened by HE Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda. The luxury resort, located in Kinigi near the breathtaking Virunga volcano range, was inaugurated just three months after its soft opening. On February 27, 2020, President Kagame and the First Lady were welcomed by HE Mohammed Al Shaibani, Executive Director & CEO of the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) and Chairman of Kerzner International, alongside Michael Wale, CEO of Kerzner International, and other notable dignitaries from Dubai and Rwanda. The opening ceremony featured a traditional Rwandan welcome with drummers, followed by a tour of the resort.
